The establishment of the NHRI comes as a historic event in the human rights process, spanning half a century since the founding of the United Arab Emirates on December 2, 1971 AD. This brings us to mind the size of this great national responsibility entrusted to all of us to complete this blessed human rights march, and push it forward at all levels and on all occasions, in the desired manner that meets the desired human rights ambition, by laying strong and solid building blocks for the promotion and protection of human rights in the UAE society for the welfare of the next generations.
We look forward to developing practical steps that would contribute to achieving the highest standards of response to national priorities and international commitments in the field of human rights and public freedoms, in addition to weaving close partnerships with government sectors, civil society institutions, non-governmental organisations, think tanks, research, and academia, as well as concluding international agreements in order to improve the human rights system, which is considered a collective action that requires concerted institutional and individual efforts to achieve the success of the NHRI’s tasks, values, and vision, and to preserve and improve its achievements on an ongoing basis in order to reach up to high humanitarian goals.
We ask ourselves that crucial question, "What is the desired end of all our efforts?" We answer, in one word, "readiness"; at both the institutional and legal levels. We are faced with multiple challenges, various files, and different tasks, which require all of us an unprecedented level of “readiness” to do whatever is necessary with the highest levels of professionalism and methodological standards, acknowledging that the structured and framed work methodology, which was launched and built upon, is a codified methodology that takes knowledge as a basis, evidence as an approach, and dialogue as a starting point.
We look forward to working with all of you hand in hand. It is time for concerted efforts, giving, and all achievement.
