Dhofar - ِThe delegation of the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), headed by Ms. Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Deputy Chairperson, participated in the activities of the regional forum on the role of national human rights institutions in planning and following up on the implementation of national visions in areas related to human rights. The forum was held in Salalah, Oman, between July 24 and 25, 2024.
The forum, organised by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) in collaboration with the National Human Rights Committee in Qatar (NHRC), the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI), and in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Arab Charter Committee on Human Rights, witnessed the participation of more than 50 institutions and organisations from the United Nations, international and regional organisations, relevant authorities, national human rights institutions, government agencies, and civil society organisations. The goal was to review experiences, challenges, and best practices in human rights planning.
The NHRI delegation included the following members of the Board of Trustees: Ms. Maryam Al Ahmadi, Ms. Fatma Al Bedwawi, Ms. Klaithem Al Matrooshi, Ms. Noor Al Suwaidi, Dr. Ahmed Al Mansoori, Mr. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Dr. Zayed Al Shamsi, and Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Noman. Also participating were H.E. Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, Secretary General, Mr. Amro Al Qahtani, Manager of the Chairperson’s Office, and Ms. Fajr Al Haidan, Head of the Agreements and Reports Section.
