The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, organised the fourth "Knowledge Lab" under the title: "General Observations Issued by the Subcommittee on Accreditation". The event was attended by H.E. Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI, and H.E. Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, Secretary General.

The "Knowledge Lab" initiative, launched by the General Secretariat of the NHRI, aims to raise awareness of human rights among its staff. It addresses various human rights topics targeting different segments of society, including the public and private sectors, civil society organisations, and university and school students.

The session was moderated by Mr. Abdulaziz Al Obathani, Head of International and Regional Organisations. He introduced the participants to the Subcommittee on Accreditation, explaining the significance of its observations for national human rights institutions in general, and the NRHI in particular. He also emphasised the Subcommittee's role in promoting human rights awareness and culture across various areas and levels.

It is also worth mentioning that the NHRI was established under Federal Law No. (12) of 2021, which stipulates that the Institution is an independent legal entity with financial and administrative independence in carrying out its functions, activities, and mandates. The NHRI aims to promote and protect human rights and freedoms in accordance with the provisions of the UAE Constitution, laws, and effective legislation, as well as relevant international covenants, treaties, and agreements. National Human Rights Institutions established under the Paris Principles are recognised as official bodies created by countries with legal mandates to advance and protect human rights.
