The National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) organized a workshop with the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Branch at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). It focused on the role of national human rights institutions, relevant mechanisms, and ways of contributing to the national periodic review reports. The workshop was held on 29 November 2022 in Abu Dhabi.

Last October NHRI conducted an organizational retreat with the OHCHR, making this workshop part of the continues efforts by NHRI to engage with the relevant international organizations. In compliance with “Paris Principles”, the engagements aim to develop the appropriate mechanisms for the progress of human rights in the UAE.

Commenting on the workshop, Fatima Al-Kaabi, Deputy Chairperson of NHRI, expressed her appreciation toward the OHCHR for their continuous collaborations and the exchange of experiences that will significantly contribute to the development of NHRI in relations to building strategies and mechanisms aimed at protecting human rights.
