On Thursday, 7 December, 2023, the National Human Rights Institution received a delegation from the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, headed by Ms. Katharina Rose, Representative of the GANHRI Head Office, in Geneva, along with several representatives from national human rights institutions from different countries.

The meeting, attended by H.E. Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI, and H.E. Dr. Saeed Al Ghfeli, Secretary-General, included discussions on human rights issues, avenues to enhance mutual cooperation, and exchange expertise. H.E. Maqsoud Kruse presented the recent developments in the NHRI’s organisational and legal establishment efforts since its inception in 2021, highlighting the active participation and contributions made by the NHRI at local and international levels. Furthermore, H.E. presented the NHRI's efforts to promote a culture of human rights through educational media content for the community.

Moreover, the delegation had the opportunity to explore the institution's diverse facilities, which contribute to fostering an encouraging and innovative environment for human rights practices.

It's worth noting that the visit follows the annual symposium organised by the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), and supported by the European Union, the United Nations Environment Programme, and the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), titled "Climate Change and Human Rights: The Role of National Human Rights Institutions", which was held at Expo City Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, 5 December, 2023, in conjunction with the 28th Conference of the Parties of the UN Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
