The Board of Trustees of the National Human Rights Institution holds its Thirteenth Meeting

The NHRI Board of Trustees held its thirteenth meeting on Monday, July 22, 2024, chaired by H.E. Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the NHRI Board of Trustees.

The agenda included following up on the implementation of previous decisions, receiving updates on the activities of the General Secretariat, and approving the semi-annual operational plan for 2024 in line with the approved strategic directives and various human rights programmes.

It is worth noting that the National Human Rights Institution was established under Federal Law No. (12) of 2021, which stipulates that the Institution is an independent legal entity with financial and administrative autonomy in carrying out its tasks, activities, and responsibilities. The Institution aims to promote and protect human rights and freedoms in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the laws and regulations in force in the UAE, as well as relevant international charters, covenants, and agreements. National Human Rights Institutions established under the Paris Principles are recognised as official bodies created by countries and have a legal mandate to promote and protect human rights.
